>>23888490no, that's exactly how it works
people have some innate stuff—instinct, neuroatomical and neurochemical differences, *essence*—and some stuff they've picked up over their existence, from friends, parents, media
then, in early adolescence, children and teens start to "try on" different personas, to see what fits
and eventually, through a synthesis of those essential core qualities & traits, and persona amalgams derived from the environment, an idiosyncratic personality is forged
most developmental models have stages representing this
and it's the same with "having confidence", insomuch that both basically boil down to "fake it 'till you make it"
if you wear a persona for long enough, you'll find you've lost track of where it ends and you begin, because it's become integrated into your sense of self
this might be more difficult given you've already gone through ego formation, and your brain has become significantly less plastic, but you could in theory try to enhance your degree of neuroplasticity with things like Lion's Mane or LSD, and consciously hack your own brain
personality isn't the same thing as identity, with the former being the external view of you, and the latter being the internal view
but they're both fake; they're both inaccurate; they're both inauthentic
change how you view yourself, change how others view you, it's whatever
it's all made-up
neither are really you
so just make it up
within reason, you can choose your identity, because it's always going to be wrong
