The most deplorable thing is Americans' reticence/willingness to be divided, not only via arbitrary af political parties and arbitrary af political spectrum bullshit, but literally at the family level, in order to conform to the consumerist ideal of the atomic family. Ya know, so instead of selling one refrigerator to a family, you can sell multiple refrigerators as well as multiples of all the "necessary" accouterments to be a "valid" and "socially acceptable" member of society. Think of the 'lives with their parents' trope to reinforce social stigma, or hoas and rental agreements that restrict how many 'adults' can reside in a dwelling. Quite literally this atomization is precisely the source of much of Americas' plight, for instance, homeless people have families, but to conform, families would rather see their own suffer, or maybe they have mental/substance issues, and it's easier to 'dispose' of them because, again, both these things are heavily demonized and vilified, because there is profit to be made in doing so. You worship money America, that is why you put your deity on the currency; not compassion, not mercy, not love nor anything else you CLAIM to praise.
