I saw a video on YouTube which says the Chav subculture died out years ago. I was wondering if that's true. I found the video upsetting because the only group who were nice to me in school (age 11-16) were the (what other school kids called) Chavs. When I was sad they'd ask what's wrong and not judge me, I felt safe opening up to them when I was otherwise a closed book.

Grew up with an abusive dad, so my brain also subconsciously associates safe masculinity = Chav
