>>23963512>salvation is by grace>but your works are the fruit of your faithCorrect, this was my understanding of the bible as well.
Grace and salvation come through faith, but through true faith you do thing that people often consider works, but to you, a beliver they are not works they are just, what you do as a faithful person. Give to the poor, help those who ask for it and are in need. Its not works its just what you do.
>>23963513Protestants belive simply that it is faith in christ alone that gives you salvation, thats the most important thing, and then you follow his teachings and the bible.
The big thing is they dont agree with the idea of the papacy which if you read the bible, like actually sit down, read it, and read it with historical context as well and even go so far as to look at the original Greek word for some things and what they translate into, you ralize that the papacy does not really fit in with what the bible was teaching.
A great example of why you should do this is one of the most popular lines in the bible which is
>The meek shall inheret the Earth. Many Anti Christs will look at this as a point of attack saying see they are told to be weak.
Which is not true, the orignal word in greek used there was πραεῖς, or Parus, which was translated into meek but more accurately means calm temptered or gentle. In some cases its even used as a description of someone who is just with authority and power or fair.
So in the translated text it says the meek shall inheret the earth, but contextually its saying
"The Calm/Gentle/Slow to anger/The Fair judges, will inherit the earth."
This is why reading the Bible with context is SUPER important because it can completely alter how you view verses.
