>>2396852>right direction -- kind of a 1.5 steps forward, 1 step back thingSee, we Russians have a problem. We can't negotiate with each other worth shit without some sort of vertical power structure. And when the general population rises up against the power structure, usually due to foreign provocation combined with stagnant or poor performance on government's part, we take a hammer to our system and it becomes a bit of wild west in here. Examples are myriad, Lenin, Gorbachev, now Poroshenko in Ukraine, it all the same, "let's take down the government and screw having a plan for after we do" sort of things.
Most russians have by now notieced this, and our current "take down the government" opposition has less than 2 percent popular support. Whether or not current iteration of government holds long term depends on successful succession and ability of our government from becoming insular to the point of ignoring the population's wishes and drowning in corruption.
So far it's quite positive, tho there is it's share of downsides like when after our PM was shown to be quite, quite blatantly corrupt, government just ignored the problem, mostly as a fuck you to the opposition and because he is second in command of our entire nation and the current rulling class doesn't want to "surrender it's own". Think Hillary Clinton but male and not straight up evil.
On the other hand there is a myriad of positive signs, like low level corruption being practically non existent, general positive and patriotic attitude, without going over to blind nationalism, and generally well respected law enforcment apparatus.
Plus we do like winning wars, so syria, despite being defensive, gave quite something for our MSM to talk about.
