They've always existed though. Some guys are just too hung up on shit, they act weird, they can't bring themselves to just act like themself as an individual because they loathe theirselves. At least in some cases. Like in the documentary. The guy I'm thinking of was actually really funny, he was likable and even charming at times. He wasn't ugly. So I assume that it comes down to the dynamic of interaction with the opposite sex. There is something there, at least when the idea of sex is potentially on the table, that stifled him and caused him to act retarded, but not in a good way.
