Question for Christians

No.23995332 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
What is your actual understanding and view of paganism - /real/ pagan mythoi as was actually practiced by our Nordic ancestors across Europe, not neo-paganism.
What were the old gods? A mix of angels and demons? Just demons? What do you think of texts like the Havamal, the Eddas, the various heroic epics and such? Despite not believing them, do you respect these beliefs and their texts as our sacred tradition, or do you think nothing of value would be lost if it were all to disappear? Do you think any of it contains divine truth? How do you feel about magical concepts like seiðr - containing both "white magic" (as associated with Odin) and "black magic" (as associated particularly with witches and niðingr, general evil folk) - do you think that this sort of magical power actually exists or at least one point did exist?
I ask out of curiosity because the answers are always wildly different across threads. I know that there is no definitive consensus due to the differences between denominations, but I'm trying to get some sort of idea regarding whether these beliefs and moral teachings are respected amongst racially conscious Christians or if they are simply reviled and unappreciated across the board.
The last time the seventh star of Pleiades was visible to the naked eye was over 100,000 years ago, and yet a multitude of cultures have myths stating "there are 6 stars now but there used to be 7 of them" under various symbolism, such as the Hellenic version of the seventh sister turning away. Our oral tradition is MUCH older than anyone likes to admit, and it clearly shows that 100k years ago when we were still supposed to be doing a bunch of unga bunga caveman bullshit our ancestors had already looked skyward into the heavens. What do you think of these extremely distant ancestors of ours?
