I'm thinking the guy who claims to know the kidnapper's identity is not trustworthy.

Let's say he accepts the bitcoin and provides a name. Now he is guilty of extorting this family. He's linked to a guy who probably has already murdered Nancy. That guy knows or suspects who he is.

It makes no sense for him to link himself to this case if he's not lying.

It could have been related to the Epstein investigation, because Savanna Guthrie interviewed victims.

The kidnapper was at the house for a relatively long time, so possibly the kidnapping was botched leading to Nancy's death and they needed to cover it up. The kidnapper seemed inexperienced with his handgun because he wasn't wearing it the way an experienced person would.
