Tangentially related, I used to think the monetization of social media (particularly YT) was the cause of so much clickbait and shitty content, but only now I realized that the few channels I really did like benefit from monetization, so idk. Youtube's algorithm (note: I haven't used it in years since I quit cuz addiction) regularly rec'd me interesting stuff, so I guess I was able to avoid much of the slop.
