>>2409138great question. there was a whole year where there was a peak of those bomb threats. and they always seemed to me like a way for people to get out of impending tests. because every time there was one the school was obligated to shut down and have cops check over the entire place for hidden bombs and the checkup took two days.
there were so many bomb threats that year the municipality was forced to change its regulation to make bomb checks last only about an hour. i bet they've changed it since then, thanks to our arab friends.
as to what prompted that year of bomb threats, i honestly don't remember. like i said, this was pre 9/11 so terrorism wasn't on anybody's mind.
it was presumed a bomb would be used to scare some bullied student into submission i guess, but there were never any actual bombs as far as i remember.
so i guess that "wait for two days" procedure was someting that was left over on the books and teenagers just happened to come across it and abused it to skip tests.
such an innocent time.
