>jewish behaviourThey didn't mind jews on racial grounds - at all. It was about culture. Already in the Russian Empire, once it annexed the Pale of Settlement, getting the jews to integrate was high on the agenda.
But they didn't wanna, and consequently it became increasingly forceful, with mandatory state schooling and military conscription, and such, to absorb them into the normal citizenry, instead of having to deal with this isolationist and subversive subculture.
And for the communists it was much the same - everybody was supposed to fill the communist mold, which jews and their usual practices and traditions, didn't fit.
Some jews joined the commies purely to get rid of the Tsar, while some others were in fact genuine communists, and those were generally respected as equals, exemplary even. The jews that didn't cooperate properly didn't fare so well and quickly realised the communists were as set on eradicating them as a subculture as the Tsars were, or even aimed to abolish religion entirely.
Now of course some of those genuine communist jews also ended up under the revolutionary bus, or the jails of the NKVD, although in that their jewishness wasn't unique - that happened to everybody who fell out of grace or whose face the Politburo didn't like, whatever race or nation they were from.
I don't doubt that most of the jews obtaining higher offices in the communist machine were in fact communists, and often atheists, but that wasn't a life insurance policy, as many had to realise, especially during power struggles and purges.
