the CEGEP system fucking rules and lets you either pick a discipline or drop out entirely before sinking too much money in, but it tends to produce students who just faff about a lot because theres no real consequence for failure
that said, there's less of the yankee complaint "OH NO I WENT TO UNIVERSITY AND NOW I HAVE TO TAKE 8 BILLION GENDER STUDIES COURSES DESPITE SIGNING UP FOR STEM" because our universities don't do that. CEGEP does though but ffs it's just High School II and you're out in two years if you picked a good program and you at least get to pick your poz
