Why cant I just go to the post office and pick up my package with my ID? I hate living in a 3rd world country

I've picked up plenty of shit at the post office. Just figure out which one it's at, go there and tell them you have a package waiting. I'd think it'd be at your local post office because that's the one that will be delivering it. If it's not, they would have to send it from another post office to yours before you got it. USPS has a tracker on their site you can probably check.
