What do you think you owe your parents?

I don't owe them anything. I told them tonight by the time I'm 30 I will take every single penny they've earned from them for treating me how they did for 22 years.

I will not help them at all and the moment I'm finished college they are dead to me, I will never speak or have anything to do with my family the day I graduate, I'll never ever speak to them after that day.

They housed and fed me, and helped me out when they could. Never could afford to buy me a car or pay for college, so that was entirely on me. However, they raised me with the idea that you never chose your family, so there's no point in putting your neck on the line for someone just because we shared a couple drops of blood in common. They raised me to chose my friends and be there for them out of choice, never to be there for someone purely out of obligation. If I didn't want to help some stranger to me then I wasn't obligated to regardless if we were related or not; this person is still a stranger to me.
I do more to help my father out than my mother however... My father was always pretty down to earth and chill, while my mother was arrogant, egotistical, entitled, slobbish and lazy. The kind of person who expects everyone to work for her and never work themselves.

What do you expect them to do? I don't think even they themselves knew what to do. It's not like you suddenly gain all the answers to every problem when you become an adult, that's not how it works. Chances are they were nervous and scared themselves, and also didn't want to put you in a position that could make you feel even worse. Putting their child in the spotlight like this? I never had any dreams or goals either, other than leaving my shitty little town. I went into the field I though I had the biggest change of enjoying, and I did end up enjoying it. I can't tell you what to do, but there is definitely something out there for you. If there is really nothing you can think of that you think you will enjoy doing, try roaming around for a few weeks or months. I did this during the summer before I went to uni, and it helped me put things into perspective.
