Recovering alcoholic here.

This is a general thread to help people with their alcoholism problems. Last time I made a thread was I think 3-4 years ago on /b/? I'm over five years sober now.

Good luck. I spent too much time in the past drinking to the point that it's probably started to affect my health, so I try to avoid it for at least this month. It's probably nowhere near as hard as what real alcoholics go through.

id ratehr keep drinking. drinking isnt my problem -- its the things that cause me to drink. i dont feel much better when im sober

You can recover from acute withdrawal, yes, but PAWS(Post acute withdrawal symptoms) last for a minimum of months, sometimes years. Psychological addiction is always there, even when sober for many many years. I still get drinking dreams, I still get cravings, albeit rarely etc.
