Showing contempt for that only makes logical sense if you believe that you are actually dedicated enough as a human being in general that you should be disallowed from the act so as not to do harm. This is all predicated on the idea that any formal education truly worth remarking on is only going to be undertaken by the elite capable of utilizing it. Hence, those that would be smart enough to realize trashing the flag is idiocy or cowardice.
