Truth be told I boil most of my water in the summer, and I melt snow in the winter desu. Started doing it since two years ago after I heard parts of Canada and Europe put chemicals in the water.

You can use literal smashed washed coal (less than 0.1$) to make a filter that costs 20 $ in the market.
