Fantasy Races

ITT we discuss the inspirations for fantasy races, either from books, films, or video games. I'll start with WoW:
> Humans (Playable): White Americans. Traveled from Lordaeron to set up a new kingdom, powerhouse of the Alliance. Capital City is a multi-cultural society free of hate like New York. No British or Euro accents, they even sound American.
> Gilneans: British.
> Night Elves: Muslims from North Africa. They worship a female moon deity and have the crescent moon and star on every piece of armor or structure, and literally say "ishnu'alah". Half the places they live in are forest, the rest are desert.
> Draenei: Persians. They ride war elephants, wear turbans, are named Kazem or Hakmud, and have a thick accent. The language sometimes even sounds like Farsi if you listen closely.
> Pandaren: chink
> Tauren: Native American
> Orc: Brown ones are African, green are African-American with almost no understanding of their home culture. We wuz warchiefs
> Troll: Carribean Islander, live in straw huts and smoke voodoo
> Forsaken: Former Lordaeron humans, Baltic Europeans
> Goblins: Cheap semitic jews. Own every bank and zeppelin on Azeroth.
> Dwarves: Nords. Live in the snow and worship a handful of Titan gods, one even being named Thorim, and ride polar bears.
> Blood Elves: French
> Gnomes: Swiss. Created the Gnomish Army Knife, preferred stance of battle is technology and logic over strength and power.
> Bonus, Yaungol are Mongols. They live in the Steppes, eat burnt meat and try to invade the chinks every day.
