Because shooters usually get shot by cops and maybe even killed. Doing something that risky isn't worth it because if you fuck up you won't be able to continue spreading your message. It's less risky to plant a bomb and let it go off instead. The risk/reward factor isn't that good

anyone in enough despair to shoot up a school or mall or w/e is probably suicidal anyway. marc lepine, for example, shot himself before cops even showed up, and had a suicide note in his jacket. he also reportedly failed to pay rent that month despite always paying it on time before, and bought his somewhat estranged mother a gift despite it not being her birthday or any other holiday.

there have been a few of those too but they werent as sensational. yeah, it's still a school shooting and dominates the news cycle, but no one gets a law named after them or anything and most people just stop talking about the whole thing entirely within a few months.

Like the dawson shooting, it got to "well the man is literally a vampire and probably autistic so whatever I guess!!"

Yes mass murderers are usually suicidal. Why do you think so many of them have no intent at all of coming out of there alive? The ones who want to kill people to send a message, like Timothy McVeigh, will most likely use bombs or other methods to cause death and destruction in the name of whatevere.
