Alright, here's some movies I recommend you watch:

It's not actually a war movie, however the plot of the film is set in a Yugoslavian military base, the movie is funny as shit and I highly recommend it.

I think I actually watched this one with my dad when I was a little kid, However I didn't know what was going on in the film (I didin't know english at the time and the movie had no subtitles).Time to watch it again.

I believe it. Holding off the Austro-Hungarians is an achievement in itself.
I watched "Wake in Fright"as a kid too with my dad! There are actually towns like that in Australia. Only way in and out is a train and it only comes once a month. People practically force feed you beer and give you a bed for however long you need it. Sounds good but it gets ugly

True. Real roo shooting too. I went roo shooting as a teen. Pretty much the same thing. You all get drunk and drive through the bush shooting wildly at roos stunned by the headlights. After a while I stopped shooting and got drunk instead. Too brutal for me. Poor roos get mutilated by gunshots and sometimes jump away to die a painful death. Not cool.

I've never been real hunting. Shooting at stunned animals from the back of a moving pickup truck while drunk isn't real hunting. From what I remember, it was fun. You get a real kick when you get a kill shot (I was using a ww1 era mark 1 enfield. Hard to work on a moving vehicle so when I actually hit a roo it was like scoring a goal). Thing was we just killed them and left. I uunderstand they were pests to farmers. But it could be more humane. One roo got it's jaw blown off. We never found it. It must of died in agony over time. So it's fun but sometimes needlessly brutal
