There are probably some in other galaxies. But we may never leave our own and they might never come here.
In our own galaxy, maybe we're alone.
The usual assumption is that once a civilization becomes spacefaring, it's only a matter of millennia (which is very short at the scales we're talking) before they start exponential colonization of the galaxy. And we should be able to see that. So if there are aliens within our galaxy, we're probably the only spacefaring ones. And it's unlikely that they'd have a technological development level similar to our own. We might be offset by millions of years. And they're not millions of years ahead of us (since we would have seen that), so they're probably behind by a lot.
