Walk outside, it's 30 below. Snot in your nose freezes instantly. Any exposed skin of appendages like fingers will freeze within minutes. Your face will start freezing up in minutes.
Even triple layered, three socks on, a shirt, sweater, thick winter jacket, two pairs of long underwear, within half an hour the cold will start creeping in. Within a couple hours you'll be shivering. Within 12 hours you'll be near dead, and 24 hours in if you're not dead, you wish you were. Frostbite starts setting in. Your fingers and toes go black, and will have to get parts amputated off.
