Even if not explicitly anime, Oekaki, origami, /cgl/, pokemon, videogames, videogame general, flash, and to lesser degrees, every single board has at least part of its foundation resting on maybe not anime, but Japanese culture, which anime has heavily influenced.
The Abo/native American argument would work better if you were to think of it as almost 2/3 of modern Americans/Australians have a good chunk of their ancestry traced to natives, if not full natives themselves.
This argument also kinda holds. It was made by weebs, but was by no means an anime exclusive website... ever.
