it's very complex, but at best what we could hope for is agreeing to stick to our own shit and not get in each other's business. there's too much shit between us and too many people who hate each other. i can't trust a serb or a greek or a turk. do you realize, even hearing the bulgarian words for "turk", "serb" and "greek", they sound like slurs to me. the regular demonyms sound like slurs to me, it feels like filth in my mouth. even if i meet individuals who like us, i know in my heart, their nations as a whole would never like us. and the same applies in reverse.
it's sad, but it's the truth. i feel no active aggression towards them, but i feel a certain distrust. and the same applies to them we're not going to be friends any time soon, but i think we won't be enemies either.
