But the more modern ones seem to kind of miss the point, and I'm not as into them. I like my kids tormented and tortured, allowing them to wield these massive death machines.... not for them to be shy, nervous, introverts who have a crush on the pretty girl in their class. Those kind of plotlines need to stop.
And if you're into "big metal robot" genre, give Big O a shot. Maybe Mazinger, Getta Robo, and the newer, more modern Tetsujin series (the original that came out in America, Gigantor, isn't terrible but it's also real old fashioned).
Evangelion isn't terrible either, but that fanbase is among the worst of its kind I have ever seen in my entire life.
