So I'm a Brit bong on holiday, all of the shop workers look so miserable and the taxi drivers are rude, especially the Nigerians.
I've heard the Americans in the south are more friendly, is this true?

For the most part. I'd steer clear of Alabama though... that state is still all kinds of fucked. But yeah, you'll be fine since you don't actually live here.
