The reality seems to be there isn't one big story here but a bunch of people made some small to moderate fuckups either due to skeeviness or general incompetence. And now all their shit is coming to light, even if it is only tangentially related to the actual russia bullshit. There's already one or a few trials ongoing and some people have also stepped down from their position probably because they have something unrelated to hide. Also, actually related to the russia shit, if I'm not mistaken twitter and facebook have admitted to their platform being used to serve misleading propaganda. Fake accounts and bots with thousands of followers, with some that happened to be owned by russians (or at least a russian IP). The real problem is ofcourse the people blame twitter, facebook, the russians, anything except themselves for actually buying into this whole shit in the first place

Well it's not an iffy lead really, it's a very real and huge problem. The thing is the media keeps wanting to find bad guys in this situation which just fans the flames and makes it worse. What needs to be done, and in my opinion it needs to be done soon, is put some serious thought into educating the younger generations about handling information on the internet and critical thinking and all that shite. Yeah there's some interesting study in this kinda shit, I'll probably get into it more after my studies because I think it's kinda fascinating. But I've seen em swing different ways though. And most of those studies just look at the average performance among participants. But that's still technically individual performance. The importance lies in the influence of opinion between participants among themselves
