In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control; even over his own will.

I think this is true to some extent. Although I'm not sure that it's an entity, rather I think it's some sort of law or force that's naturally in effect. I'd say it's likely nothing sentient like a God that has a mind and a will, though.

That's possible. It's also possible that the entity is benevolent but isn't perfect and is trying its best but incapable of doing a perfect job. Or perhaps there are conflicting entities working against each other? There are many possibilities.

Jes shit for having a clear goal and giving us the gift of abstract thought. Ants and bees work without question to serve their queen and to accomplish a common goal which is survival. They go as far as to sacrifice their own lives for the greater good. This would be great for humanity and for your entity buy we are given the ability of thought. But if there were separate powerful entities that worked against each other, wouldn't they try to destroy each other so they can reach their goal or is there something preventing them?
Would destroying one of them create consequences that the other does not want?
or perhaps they lack the power to destroy one another?
