Let's say, hypothetically, that a man was drinking 375+ ml of hard liquor plus a few beers every night while taking antidepressants. How long would said man to develop a fatal liver disease?

As far as I know it takes at the very least a year of heavy drinking to develop cirrhosis.

Been drinking around 500ml of vodka every day now for about 3 years, also on antidepressants.
Did a full health check the other week and my levels were pretty good considering.
My doctor was kinda annoyed/impressed about it though since I took it as a "keep drinking" sign.

And to give some perspective, my granddad died at the age of 89. And he smoked, drank and ate like a pig. We are talking hard booze and 2 packs of smoke a day.
Some people just get lucky I guess. So my tip is, see a doctor and get checked.

I said at the very least one year, it usually takes longer for most people. People have different tolerances when it comes to the amount of alcohol they can regularly consume without issues.

500 ml is kind of like a moderate stage of alcoholism.

True liver damage comes quickly if you start drinking over 30 ounces a day. Hell you can even kill yourself with alcohol poisoning if you drink that much way too quickly, or a handle too quickly.

The average life expectancy for a serious alcoholic is 10 years from the start of alcoholism.

Anti-depressants won't do much to alter that since they aren't too hard on the liver. If you have strong anti-anxiety pills like Valium, Xanax, Vicoden etc it's another matter.

I know two 20 year olds that drank so much they got pneumonia (didn't even know this possible before then), carried on drinking whilst on pneumonia meds and died of liver failure.

I should clarify they weren't exactly 20, one was 23 and the other 27. And they didn't know each other, they were just both alcoholics that I knew. My original message was unclear
