Tripcodes can confirm the identity of a single anon, yes, but let's roll back one step; why is using the name field allowed but avatarfagging is bannable? Both can easily be replicated by other anons, nullifying any ability the name or avatar have at positively identifying an individual user.

4chan is not an imageboard, it's a forum. It's very far from what 2channel/futaba are ideologically. I believe there's far less image content than there is text content.
