>>3133507They were doing it at my elementary and middle school in the early 2000s. Didn't have the pledge of allegiance in high school and it's usually not used much anymore. But, if you are a foreigner becoming a US citizen you must pledge allegiance to the United States of America and her laws as part of the admission process, US military does it as well for swearing in ceremonies. They never forced me to stand for the pledge in school, it's voluntary, but a pledge of some form is required for military and foreign citizen admission in the US.
