Starving only requires OP to breathe, wasting air. But you cannot efficiently suffocate yourself unless you use water or a vacuum tight room.
Starving is the most efficient. You waste very few resources, air, and you give off waste material that your body still has inside of it. Afterward, you produce nothing but a corpse.
