Tbh, I'd say it's from need for love. It's just that finding love for a boy is much harder for a girl, that's normal, yet, for whatever reasons, maybe more liberal views of most of parents? Seeing that as an acceptable thing? I dunno, they see trying more, getting over such stuff too hard and would rather switch to easy mode. My guess would be that most of parents nowadays aren't good ones, which leads their sons to be easily discouraged. Add current social stance on changing your gender to the equation and here you have it, boys wanting to become girls.
