>>3158630After the war, an Upper Carniolan goes to claim benefits.
The Party guy in charge of it asks him why he wants them if he didn't fight in the partisans. The Upper Carniolan tells him that at the start of the war, a family of jews came to his home asking for help. He hid them in the cellar but of course, it would put a strain on him so he asked for some money in return. The Party guy agrees, it would probably be hard on him if he had to feed them and not get something in return. The Upper Carniolan continues saying that it was still very difficult and he eventually asked them for a monthly payment - they understood his situation and accepted the terms. The Party guy agrees; truly, it must not have been easy for the man, feeding a whole family and having to worry about the Germans finding them. And they must really be grateful that they survived the holocaust.
"Oh no," the Upper Carniolan says, "I didn't tell them the war is over yet."
