The real answer is, well, we don't.
Most Australians know that during World War 2, Imperial Japan was coming to pound our arseholes in, and they were going to too. They fucked Darwin up like 50 times, they bombed a lot of places too, and their navy was fuckhueg compared to anything we could muster, especially with the majority of our forces in Europe depending the UK... not knowing within a 100 years they would let the Muslim hordes in to conquer it anyway, so that was dumb.
So we're extremely grateful really. We see America like a big brother... we will shit on you constantly, relentlessly, doing shit just to piss him off, but we know that we have his back totally, and if anything happened to him we would never forgive ourselves, because he saved us from the classroom bully that one time.
