It's an Asian thing. We in the West usually shower when we are about to go to work/school and exit our home, while in the East the belief is that the outside is dirty and they shower as soon as they come home. This way, most of the time they will smell worse because they didn't shower before leaving their home.
Also, curry and spices have a very potent smell and that impacts body odour as well
