Burglars are awful, what they do is against the law. I COULD be a victim of a burglary. Which means burglars are a threat to me, but they are an indirect threat, because 1)you do not know who is a burglar 2)the likelyhood of you being burglarized is very small.
It is against the law to murder suspected burglars (unless they are actively stealing from you at that moment) so you would most likely go to jail for hunting down burglars in their own homes and killing them.
Given the fact that you would go to prison if you started killing burglars or people you suspected of such.. it is illogical to do that, because the negative consequences outway the threat that it poses to you.
If a burglar murdered your family and you desire revenge, that would mean you have a personal vendetta against burglars, your hatred for them justifies in your mind the violence and to you the crime committed in taking revenge is worth it.
so its either two scenarios for why someone would do something like that; these people have been personally effected by it, or they are insane or brainwashed into thinking that the benefit of removing the criminal outweighs the consequences of killing someone.
