>>3209724>Ahh I see.. how much is it going to cost?If it's actually the PCM it should be around $250 - $300. That includes a new/re-manufactured PCM, paying for a tow (which my insurance may cover actually), and paying Ford to reprogram the PCM to my car.
>contextFor a while sometimes when accelerating after coming to a stop it would almost feel like certain components of the car would lose power for around 1 second and after regaining power the transmission would grab really hard. I've had a hunch it was an electrical issue for a while because any time it would happen my Overdrive would re-engage. Now I drive with it off for various reasons, mostly because the car is more responsive with it off. About 2 months ago after starting the engine at a gas station the 'THEFT' light started flashing and killed the engine immediately. So I disconnected the battery to reset the PCM/Computer. Started right up after reset and no problems for a good month. Well it started doing that odd GRAB again while accelerating after coming to a stop eventually. This time the 'THEFT' light tripped while I was going about 40mph on a back-country road while going uphill.....somehow it didn't stall it but it sure as hell tried. I pulled into a strangers driveway and restarted the engine, voila! No more 'THEFT' light. Which should not happen. If it trips it stays on until it's disengaged by either resetting the PCM or some other means that I can't remember at the moment.
So that gave me enough reason to spend 4hrs or so yesterday removing the PCM, disassembling it to verify it was in good working order which it seems to be. Followed by finding every ground and connection from the passenger foot-well where the PCM is, to the front bumper and cleaning them. I hope it's not the PCM though because I would really like to get new rear shocks and front struts put on.
