What set Marx apart from traditional anti-capitalist movements was that he wanted to take advantage of the benefits given by capitalism rather than become reactionary and revert back to pre-capitalist times such as primal subsistence farming (something Marx called utopian Socialism whereas his philosophy was scientific socialism)
