I'm a cop and occasionally we respond to calls that "omg my neighbors hit their kid I hear him screaming, surely they've broken him in half!" We show up and ask to do a voluntary welness check, and it's always that the kid was fucking around and dad set him straight. No abuse, just a physical reminder of who is the boss.
