It's almost impossible to carry in Overwatch with just your skills like you can in CS GO or TF2, because Overwatch rewards teamwork more than personal skill, and that's an interesting concept in organized play, but it's INFURIATING in quickplay, or solo-que. I get punished for trying to get things done on my own, and can't just go fuck things up with Tracer like I could with Scout. I HAVE to work with my team, which is a skill I'm willing to work with. I play TF2 lobbies, P.U.G.s, and other semi-serious formats that require teamwork all the time, but in random que type gameplay, nine times out of ten, at least one person on my team is retarded, and drags down the entire team, because teams are so small, and teamwork is so important.
Lastly, the way the meta is set up (last I played, maybe it's different now), you're kind of strong armed into playing a healer or tank. In tf2 pubs, it doesn't matter if you don't have a medic, because if you're good enough, you can go kill shit behind enemy lines alone, but in OW, since you're forced to stick together, and so is the enemy team, if you don't have a proper number of healers and tanks, you're doomed, so as soon as you join, there's people all scrambling to grab the actually fun, skill based heros, like Genji and Hanzo, before they're stuck with either playing Rein, or throwing.
It's a shame, because Overwatch is such a pretty game with lots of neat characters, backstory, and a LOT of love thrown into it. The dev team is really on their shit, and are constantly updating, balancing, and patching the game, and they're actually supporting their Esports scene. It drives me nuts that OW is the game with a strong Esports scene, instead of TF2, when TF2 would be a much better Esport. It's faster paced, high skill ceiling, and easier to follow and understand from an outsider perspective.
