Well you see, center of mass is where police officers are trained to aim because that is the target that is the least likely to be a fatal shot AND is the target where there is less likely to be PERMANENT damage from the projectile. People who say "just shoot them in the legs!" Have no clue how hard it is to either accurately aim a weapon in the heat of combat or have any clue what a bullet does to the human body, It would completely shred the muscles/bones in your legs on impact and exit. That's just a 9mm round by the way.

You're not getting my point, still. I'll say it again and this time do my best to make it clear to you. Yes, a shot to your torso is more likely to kill you than a shot to your leg. HOWEVER, a shot to the head is WAY more likely to kill you than a shot to the torso isn't it? The difference is, if you get shot to the leg your life is essentially over. Odds are if you work a physical job you can't work it anymore, you become a burden on family and loved ones, and you're stuck with expensive medical bills that you are unable to pay. A shot to the torso is less likely to kill you and less likely to completely ruin your life. That is why police are trained to aim for the torso. Thank you.

Okay so looking at the information we have. Here's what we can deduce.

This is a tough one. I want to say that the kid was probably drunk and was incapable of following instructions but it's hard to say with the information provided. In similar situations, when a suspect is being apprehended and is purposefully doing sly things while being detained like slowly putting his hands behind his back as observed in the video it is because they're removing a knife or some other firearm.

While it is most likely that the kid was innocent a lot of his actions put the officer on edge. Deciding to open fire was a bad call either way and Brailsford should have been prosecuted.
