Milk comes in bags like this here in Brazil too. You just put it on a special container and it works quite well, it doesn't spill. I'd take a pic of said container but I'm not home.

But to be honest, it has been ages since the last time I bought a bag of milk. The brand I've been drinking comes in boxes like the ones in America.

I will explain: We want the most milk for the cheapest price possible, so a plastic bag is cheaper than box. The size of this is usually enough for a family's breakfast so need need of box which makes is more ecological and cheaper. Technically it is not supposed to be left in the fridge opened if any left, use a clamp. These bags are sold as 4L in 3 bags (So 1.33L per bag) for about 6.33$ Also, it is way easier for restaurants, kitchens and else to have bags than milk box

It was from when we had milk delivery. They started putting it in bags and didn't have to deal with the logistics of collecting bottles anymore.

I have not seen milk delivery since the early 90's where I live (Calgary) but it used to be comfy as fuck. Fresh milk, fresh chocolate milk, and my mom would always buy an entire crate of beep, which was an awesome fruit drink that we got in our lunches.

I miss milk delivery.

I don't miss drafty milk chutes in -30 weather tho.

OK, so you cut off the front sort of like this, then the back like this. That helps it so the bag doesn't collapse. You also put the bag in whole, you don't drain it into a pitcher. It's a lot cheaper i think so they do it that way.
You can also buy 2L/1L cartons and 4L plastic jugs.
