it's very monotone and "safe" in the sense that nothing major ever happens and your way of life is left mostly undisturbed from external forces (and don't get the misconception that we actively go out into the middle of the night to fetch some cod under a sky lit by northern lights or that we gladly eat moose dick and sheep's head, we're just as much into laying at home and browsing netflix as any other country)

political situation is kind of iffy atm since we just got a new prime minister who was the leader of a heavy left-wing party
can only hope that she doesn't decide to import a shit-ton more niggers like the last left-wing administration tried to do

It can be pretty beautiful in places, many interesting glaciers, waterfalls and geysers.

no and I didn't feel like you were trying to in the first place

however we do export a shit-ton of fish to a lot of countries around the world and we've gotten quite good at the whole automated fishery business

Yes there is a decently high demand on programmers, however it's important to keep in mind that it's "high" in comparison to other sectors for an economy of our size. So while it's much easier to get a job in, it's still not as easy as you might have heard.

I think it's like most countries, it really depends. Growing up and where I live now, I definitely know my neighbors well and we talk frequently, etc. If I suddenly was eating by a sheep (or more appropriately at this time of year - Grýla) they'd notice my absence quickly, and vice versa.

However when I lived in Reykjavík I couldn't have told you who my neighbors were to save my life.

Hmm, I'm honestly not sure with that much time. The problem is that our international airport is actually in Keflavík, not Reykjavík - which is a bit more remote.

You're right in that "grey area" with time, where there's things you could do with a rental car, but that you'd still be pretty limited. I've not derped around in the airport much, but it's way nicer than it used to be.

It can be slow to get delivered, but the customs, oh lawds the customs. I just clipped this from Amazon, I switched it over to English and it made my prices USD rather than GBP for some reason, but it gets the point across. This is just a random ~$10 watch, but look at the import fees.

As for the bottle, I think they can give you a bag you place it in or something that gets sealed, then you can carry that bag through customs with no duties.
