>>3260839My father had a psychotic breakdown on monday.
He had always been a bit odd for my entire life, but it was never serious. He was a bit of a conspiracy nut, talked about them, liked guns and knives, but it was never anything actually crazy.
But six weeks ago, his mental state started to deteriorate extremely fast. He would have sudden outbursts, he'd sit outside, just smoking cigarettes all day...
On Sunday night, I could hear him outside, yelling at nothing. He was screaming his head off, and tearing the grass out of the ground. I tried to go to bed, and just ignore him.
I was really worried about him. But the worst happened on Monday.
I got up early in the morning to walk the dog, and when I came back, I could hear him screaming inside his shed. I was scared, so I rushed off to work.
When I came back, all seemed normal. Well, relatively normal.
I had supper, and a good friend of my father, Al, came to pick him up. They went over to his house, and I let out a sigh of relief. Thirty minutes passed, and they both came back. It was odd, because they usually stayed out for two or more hours. I went over to my father and asked what was wrong, and he replied "I feel sick". I assumed he would simply have gone to lie down until he felt better, so I turned around to go back into the house. When I looked back, I saw that my father had a gun.
My brother rushed out asked my father, "What are you doing with that god damn gun!?!?", to which my father replied "It's none of your business." (Note that we live in a sub urban neighbour hood, so it's a bunch of houses close together.)
My father told my brother "I'm going to war, the signal has been given.", and my brother managed to fight the gun away from my father.
My father locked himself in his shed afterwards, and Al and my mother managed to convince him to go to the hospital for mental help.
He's going to be in there for years.
