>>3297820From what I know, Russia is one of the most difficult nations to get a residence visa for. You need to provide you proof of citizenship in your home country, criminal background usually, know some Russian, have a valid reason for wanting to stay there (for ex. Business, citizenship and permanent residence for life, or just visiting), you also need to mail these docs to Russia or bring them in person I believe. Knowing Russian is needed if you plan to live and be able to do anything there, staying in expat areas isn't reliable and you will have to know basic Russian vocabulary and conversations at some point. I also know from a Russian person I know that some "military cities" will always be closed off to foreign born people due to security concerns, one example is Severomorsk. You would have to get in touch with their emigration officials and most documents that you need to fill out for residency need to also be filled out in Russian I believe.
