Like, you look at how the Brits colonized India, and even though they starved the Indians, they left behind a pretty good education system.
Similarly, for whatever reason, Asian nations have always valued education.
Then you look at the America's, and it's not like any of us put a huge emphasis on education. USA is pretty much just/was/is a superpower because we were the only economy left after WW2, got lucky.
Additionally, any time the West got involved with Africa, they never taught them anything other than how to exploit their resources, there has to be some kind of inspiration or innovation.
This is all conjecture, and I can't substantiate any of the claims, but I think he may have had a point.
