The nation that originally flew it (or rather a variation of it) 150 years ago was one that intended slavery to be proliferated, but only a slim minority of southerners nowadays harbor any similar intentions. The flag has evolved into being, as I said, a flag of regional pride and secessionist ideals. Nothing more. The fact that a handful of neo-nazis and kkk members also fly it does not mean that the flag stands for what they believe in; they also fly the American flag, but no one but SJW's, BAMN, or BLM members believe it has anything to do with white supremacy.
The south is not a racist entity anymore.
