Is it Wrong for Me to Help People who are Depressed?

I had been through hell on earth called Depression. As a 'survivor' of one of the people who contemplated suicide, is it wrong for me to be a helping hand to others who would feel what I considered a mind-numbing life?

People sometimes think of it as "invading personal space" or sometimes they're just faking the depression. Sometimes, people just want to be alone and it pains me to see them evade what little help i can give
