I'm going to assume your problem isn't only with girls. You are probably the type of autist that squirms when thinking of small-talk to say to a male shopkeeper. If this is you, then start there. Start speaking to strangers, see them as throwaways who you can practice on before you actually start to approach a girl.
Master small-talk with the fat Paki who works in the corner store and slowly build up to female shopworkers and waitresses. Start with the older women and roasties, try out a bit of innuendo and flirting (they usually love it, in a kinda patronising way), finally hone your skills until you are casually talking to attractive girls of your age.
Lift if you don't already. Have SOMETHING to talk about, achieve something, learn a culturally valuable skill.
When you get this down the step up to chatting up a girl will seem relatively small. Good luck fren, I've been there
